Dorothy Mae Mouser, 85, Adair County, KY (1929-2014)

Mrs. Mouser was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and a housewife. She was the matriarch of a highly respected Adair County, family, the daughter of the late Allen and Pearl Butler Karnes and the widow of Harold Mouser. She leaves 15 direct and 16 step living descendants.

Dorothy Mae Mouser age 85 years a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center in Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014 at 3:05amCT, at Summit Manor, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Brian Melton, Kevin Melton, Sam Jennings, Ronnie Hancock, Stephen Tupman, Daniel Lawless, Triston Reece and Jackie Cox.

She was born on August 6, 1929 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Pearl Butler Karnes. She died Tuesday December 16, 2014 in Columbia, Adair County, KY at the age of 85 years, four months, and 10 days.


The widow of Harold Mouser who preceded her in death on April 17, 2010. She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Danny, husband of Vernoica Mouser of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Phyllis, wife of Jerry Robertson of Columbia, KY

  • Five brothers: William Karnes of Greensburg, KY; Lonny (Edna) Karnes; Randall (Sue) Karnes; Ronnie (Connie) Karnes; and Darrell (Wanda) Karnes, all of Columbia, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Brian Melton, Kevin Melton, Stacy Melton, Danette Hancock, Tasha Jennings and Kali Tupman

  • Two step-grandchildren

  • Seven great grandchildren: Triston Reece, Madison McCloud, Luke Melton, Emily Melton, Preslie Lawless, Daniel Lawless and Sami Jo Jennings

  • Eight step great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters Austin Karnes, Jimmy Karnes, Geraldine Herbst and Barbara Booher.
