CU alum Chris Curley moves up to Triple-A with the Angels

SAN DIEGO, CA - Former Campbellsville University baseball star Chris Curley has a new team. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected Curley with their first of three picks during the Triple-A portion of last week's Rule 5 Draft at the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings.



Curley, 26, will report to the Salt Lake Bees of the Pacific Coast League in Salt Lake City, Utah, this spring.

Curley spent the last three years in the Chicago White Sox organization after playing a year and a half of Independent ball with the Florence Freedom and a year and a half with the Atlanta Braves.

In 2013, Curley was named the Carolina League MVP and was selected as an All-Star for the Winston Salem Dash.
, Curley began his pro career in August 2009, signing with Atlanta Braves and reporting to rookie ball in Danville, VA.

A native of Edgewood, KY, Curley spent three seasons at Campbellsville from 2007 to 2009. During his career as a CU Tiger, he set CU career records for home runs (37), hits (219) and RBIs (163), while posting a career batting average of .386. He was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year and a Second Team NAIA All-American in 2009 after leading CU to the World Series with a .403 batting average and 19 home runs. - From Campbellville University
