LWC Track & Field teams at Gerry England Open Indoor Event John-Paul Williamson and Carmetrick Ross qualify for nationals in 3,000 meter run and high jump events By Charlie Balcom INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Jerry England Alumni Open on Saturday, December 6, 2014, in their season opener. Carmetrick Ross led the men's side, breaking his school record of six feet and six inches in the men's high jump and earning a national 'B' cut. He finished in first place at the event after reaching 2.03 meters, .08 meters better than the next competitor. Ross followed with a second-place finish in the long jump with a 6.94-meter mark. John Paul Williamson finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:39.67 to earn a national 'A' cut, finishing in second place in the event. Dante Johnson broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles event. He ran a time of 8.56 seconds in the preliminary round of the event, and then followed that up with a time of 8.44 in the final heat to set a new school record. In the men's 800-meter event, Marcus Terrell and Ben Hoffman posted a one-two finish in the event, Terrell finishing at 2:03.33 and Hoffman at 2:04.15. The men's 4x400 meter relay team of Max Cabe, Johnson, James Northcutt and Ben Hoffman finished second out of 10 teams in the event with a time of 3:33.50. Josh Kles added a fourth-place finish in the shot put event with a distance of 14.37 meters. On the women's side, Kimberley Stevens led the team with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meter dash after recording a time of 27.09. Kaylin Anderson added a seventh-place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.48. Christiana Thompson and Ally Davis finished just behind Anderson in eighth and ninth in the same event.
