CIC at 10amCT - Rotary Breakfast was busy, busy; Square filled

Another venue is added Downtown: A fourth location for vendors has been set up, this one in the Adair Annex, 424 Public Square with these vendors: 1) Sheila Blair, Judy Watson, and Pam Grant have baked goods and Christmas wreathes, and 2) Ann Melton, Katie Boyce, and Misty Edwards with a line of Christmas Ornaments

George Kolbenschlag said this morning that the Edgar Troutman Memorial Rotary Club Memorial Breakfast was one of the busiest in his memory. No figures are in or the amount of money raised or other stats, but, he said, "They came in early and there was a steady stream of diner all morning."

Apparently, the same is happening with the shoppers crowding downtown for Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. There is ample parkiing remaining just off the Square, but a 10:03amCT this morning, every parking space on the Square itself was filled.

The Courthouse was filled with vendors early; additional locations are 1) In the Adair Annex Basement, 424 Public Square; 2) In Mackie Jo's Building, at the Greensburg Street entrance and the Public Square; and 3) at the Masonic Lodge Building, 501 Burkesville Street (lower level).

So far, the weather is very good, considering the time of the year. Jackets are needed, but this year's Christmas in Columbia won't be the bitter cold ones endured in many past CICs.

Rotary Club Breakfast: Gerald & Natasha, making breakfast

2014-12-07 - 201 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM .
The Rotary breakfast as well as the courthouse Chili, may go down in history as the keynote meals for Christmas in Columbia future. This moment looking in the picture window of the Baptist Church from the back parking lot, found Head Sausage Chef Gerald Holt and his daughter, Natasha hard at work. The breakfast was fantastic. Dr. Max Downey has found his calling scrambling eggs. Didn't get the name of the biscuit baker, but they were great, true to the tradition of the man the breakfast honors, the late Edgar Troutman. And J.D. Zornes gravy - the best. Even non-breakfast eater and Mayor-elect Curtis Hardwick gave highest praise to the meal. Haven't gotten a final report, but we're told it may have been a record crowd. - EW
