DELRAY BEACH, FL - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team saw their 2014 season come to an end Monday night with a 5-1 loss to Texas at Brownsville in the NAIA National Championship Second Round at the Seacrest Soccer Complex.

The eighth-seeded Blue Raiders conclude the season with a 14-3-3 record. It is the earliest Lindsey Wilson has been eliminated from the postseason tournament since the Blue Raiders fell in the NAIA Opening Round back in 2010.

Texas at Brownsville continues on their winning streak, now at 22-0-0 on the year. The ninth-seeded Ocelots face host Northwood (FL), who eliminated top-overall seed Rio Grande, in the tournament quarterfinals.

Texas at Brownsville wasted little time to start the scoring barrage. Victor Parreiras fed the ball to Ricardo Diegues who buried the shot to put Texas at Brownsville ahead just a minute and 30 seconds into the game.

The Blue Raiders answered immediately with a goal of their own just 30 seconds later as Keane McIvor passed to Caio Da Cruz and Da Cruz finished with the equalizer.

Lindsey Wilson fired six more shots over the next 30 minutes, but was unable to find the go-ahead goal.

In the 33rd minute, the Ocelots were able to take the lead on a corner kick.

Parreiras fed the ball into a crowded box from the near corner. The ball bounced around before arriving at the feet of Ahmed Zaky, who blasted the ball into the net to put Texas at Brownsville up 2-1.

The Ocelots tacked on another goal in the 39th minute as Parreiras again orchestrated the offense. He fed the ball from the left of the 18-yard box across the face of goal to meet Oscar Valencia at the far post. Valencia tapped in easily to go up by two goals before the break.

The 3-1 lead would hold until halftime.

Neither team was able to get a shot off in the early goings of the second half. The Blue Raiders stepped up the offensive pressure recording a pair of shots and two corner kicks around the 60 minute mark, but were unable to find the back of the net.

As Lindsey Wilson continued to increase the offensive pressure, the Ocelots stood tall with their defense and turned away the attacks.

With the Blue Raiders pulling men forward, the Ocelots broke on a counter attack and were able to sneak a shot past Blue Raider goalkeeper Dalyan Hawes for the 4-1 lead with under five minutes to play. Parreiras and Diegues again connected on the score.

Texas at Brownsville added their final goal with 30 seconds to play as the Blue Raider defense miscued a clearance and Diegues stole the ball and sent home a shot to complete his hat trick.

Lindsey Wilson outshot Texas at Brownsville by a 13-8 mark, but the Ocelots led with six shots on goal compared to four by the Blue Raiders. The Ocelots also committed 21 fouls in the game compared to eight by the Blue Raiders.

Texas at Brownsville goalkeeper Axel Svenson made three saves while allowing the one goal. Hawes made one save and allowed all five goals after just surrendering 13 goals previously this season.

It marks the first time since the 1995 season that the Lindsey Wilson defense has surrendered five goals.

The Blue Raiders conclude their 2014 campaign with a 14-3-3 record.
