Edith Simpson age 97 years of the Snake Creek Road, Columbia, KY. passed away Sunday November 23, 2014 at 5:50amCT, at home after an illness.

Funeral service Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at 2pmCT, at Bloomington Chapel Brethren in Christ Church, 55 Bloomington Church Road, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Bro. Ralph Foster and Bro. Lewis Burton. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4:30pmCT, Monday, November 24, 2014, after 6amCT Tuesday until 12:30pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, after 1pmCT, Tuesday at the church.

She was born Friday, January 19, 1917 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Clell & Lula Bryant Burton. She died Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 97 years, 10 months, and four days.

She was the widow of Coy Simpson who preceded her in death on December 5, 1989. She was also preceded in death by one son, Clifton Simpson.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughter: Maydean (Don) Grant of Glasgow, KY; and Phyllis Allison of Edinburgh, IN

  • Three sons: Osbert Simpson of Edinburgh, IN' Robert (Judy) Simpson of Edinburgh, IN; and Luther (Carol) Simpson of Edinburgh, IN

  • Daughter-in-law: Corine Simpson of Edinburgh, IN

  • Twenty-four grandchildren

  • Several great grandchildren

  • Several great great grandchildren

  • One niece, one nephew and a host of other relatives and friends
