LWC Volleyball sweeps Xavier in Opening Round of Playoffs

COLUMBIA, KY - The 12th-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team swept visiting Xavier (La.) 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) and advance to the 2014 NAIA Volleyball National Championships, presented in Sioux City, Iowa.



Yennifer Ramirez led Lindsey Wilson with 18 kills on the night and a .382 attacking percentage. Sarah Shilling also tallied double-digit kills as she finished with 15 and a .636 attacking percentage. Alexa Just, making her first start at the setter position this season, totaled 39 assists and 10 digs, and Caitlyn Tino finished with 14 digs. Kellie Ranney also had double-digit digs with 10.

CeCe Williams led Xavier with 11 kills in the loss. She was the lone Gold Nugget to reach double figures. Franziska Pirkl led the team with 21 assists and 12 digs.

With the victory, Lindsey Wilson qualifies for NAIA Pool Play for the third-consecutive year.

The Blue Raiders finished with a .343 attacking percentage as a team while holding Xavier to a .129 mark.
