Pedestrian struck by car on KY 551 in Adair Co., KY

Pedestrian taken to Westlake by Adair EMS, then to flown to UK Medical Center. Driver was not injured. Kentucky State Police, Adair County Sheriff's Department, and Columbia Police Department at the scene.

COLUMBIA, KY (Fri 21 Nov 2014) - Tpr. Justin Phillips is investigating a collision that occurred today at at 8:25 PM CST on KY 551 north of Columbia. 46-year-old James K. Polston, of Columbia, KY, was walking in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by a northbound, 1995 Ford pickup, operated by 36-year-old Priscilla Greer, of Columbia. Greer attempted an evasive maneuver but was unable to avoid the collision.



Polston was transported from the scene by Adair County EMS to Westlake Regional Hospital where he was flown to UK Medical Center. Greer was belted and not injured.

The collision remains under investigation and it is unknown as to why Polston was in the roadway. Tpr. Phillips was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff's Department and the Columbia Police Department.
