Mabel W. Grider, Casey County, KY (1927-2014)

She was a homemaker and a cook at Casey Middle School. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ. Mabel enjoyed life and taking care of others. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds. She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Mayme Price Woodrum Taylor. She was the widow of Ollie C. Grider. She leaves 40 direct living descendants.

Mabel W. Grider, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at her home in Casey County, KY. She was 87.

Funeral services are 10amCT/11amET Saturday, November 22, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Harry Cobb officiating. Ms. Grider will be laid to rest in Casey County Memorial Gardens, Liberty, KY. Visitation is 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Friday, November 21, 2014, at the funeral home.

Born November 13, 1927, in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Mayme Taylor Price Woodrum. She died Monday, November 17, 2014, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 87 years, four days.

She was a homemaker and a cook at Casey Middle School. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ. Mabel enjoyed life and taking care of others. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ollie C. Grider, who died February 12, 2001; brothers, Owen "Dink" Woodrum and Bobby Price; and two sisters, Virginia Watson and Frances Marple.

Survivors include the following:
  • Sons: David (and Margaret) Grider of Liberty, KY; Donnie (and Gwenn) Grider of Middleburg, KY; Dennis (and Sharon) Grider of Liberty, KY; and Jimmy (and Alta) Grider of Liberty, KY

  • Daughters, Melinda (and Kenny) Spaw of Liberty and Teresa (and Kevin) Eads of Liberty, KY

  • Sixteen grandchildren

  • Eighteen great-grandchildren

  • A brother, Tony (and Judy) Price of Liberty, KY

  • Sister: Connie (and Gary) Allen of Indiana
