WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power welcomed Preston Lashley to serve in his Washington, DC office this fall.

Lashley is a resident of Columbia, Kentucky and has served in the office since early September as part of an internship experience through Lindsey Wilson College. He will be graduating this December with a major in Criminal Justice and is the son of Sergeant Major Paul and Nikki Crews.

“I am humbled by the chance I have been given to intern in this office and the opportunity to broaden my views on government and gain a better understanding of how it works on a day to day basis,” Lashley said. “I appreciate all the office staff and the Congressman do for the people of the district and while my time in the office was brief, it will be an everlasting memory as one of the best times I have had in my life thus far.”

Whitfield hosts interns throughout the year in his Washington, D.C. office. Participants have the opportunity to attend legislative hearings and briefings, assist staff with research for the Congressman, and take on a number of administrative projects.

“I commend these young leaders of tomorrow for taking the time and making personal sacrifices in order to come to our nation’s capital and gain a better understanding of our government,” Whitfield said. “I hope the experience provides them with an educational and cultural understanding that will be of great benefit to their future and am certainly proud to have them as a part of our dedicated team here in Washington.”
