Harlon Franklin, 79, Adair County, KY (1935-2014)

He was the patriarch of a highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. He was the son of hte late Dempsey and Lula Mae Neat Franklin. His wife, Arcola Estes Franklin, survives. He leaves 34 direct living descendants. He was of the Baptist faith, had operated a service station in Columbia for several years and sold farm gates.

Harlon Franklin age 79 years of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at 6:24amCT, at his home.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Hack Williamson, Bro. Larry Franklin, and Bro. Homer Stephens the officiating clergy. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 2:30pmCT, Saturday, November 16, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Harlon Franklin, 79, Adair County, KY (1935-2014)


He was born on Wednesday, June 19, 1935 at Milltown, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Dempsey & Lula Mae Neat Franklin. He died Thursday, November 13, 20-14, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 79 years, three months, and 25 days.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Robbye Burch on November 17, 1996 and three brothers, Don Franklin, Ralph Franklin and Wallace Franklin.

He is survived by his wife, Arcola Estes Franklin, of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Brenda (Jackie) Bardin of Columbia, KY

  • Three sons: Jerry (Margie) Franklin of Bowling Green, KY; Billy (Robin) Franklin of Columbia, KY; and Lynn (Pheobie) Franklin of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Rosie Bearden of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: Herbert Franklin of Edmonton, KY; Chester Franklin of Bowling Green, KY; and Howard Franklin of Columbia, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Seventeen great grandchildren

  • Special care taker: Cris Knight

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was of the Baptist faith, had operated a service station in Columbia for several years & sold farm gates.
