Driver injured after hydroplaning accident on KY 61

44-year-old driver's car hydroplanes, leaves highway, travels approximately 40 yards in ditchline before coming to rest. He was treated at the scene, transported to Westlake Regional Hospital, then transferred to UK Medical Center.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at approximately 5pmCT, Steve Beam age 44, of Burkesville, KY was southbound on KY South 61 (Burkesville Road) when his 2002 Pontiac Sunfire hydroplaned.

The vehicle traveled approximately 40 yards in a ditch line before coming to rest off road. Beam was treated on scene and transported to Westlake Regional Hospital where he was later transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident. Deputy Aaron Rainwater is investigating the accident. Assisted on scene by Deputy Brandon Hitch and members of Breeding Fire Department.
