Bro. John Dean, Dunnville, KY (1936-2014)

Bro. John was a longtime Baptist minister, serving as minister of Blue Lick Baptist Church, Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, and Locust Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and attended the Dunnville Christian Church. Known for his good nature and wit, Dugan was a loving husband, proud father/grandfather and an avid golfer. Always ready with a smile, his generosity, faithful walk with Christ and selfless nature will be sorely missed by all who loved him. His beloved wife of nearly 60 years Martha Bertram Dean, survives. He leave 22 direct living descendants.

Bro. John Edwin "Dugan" Dean, age 78, retired U.S. Army veteran, passed away November 3, 2014 at his home in Dunnville, Kentucky, surrounded by family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5pmCT/6pmET, Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Dunnville Christian Church, 11000 South US Hwy 127, Dunnville, Casey County, KY, with visitation from 1pm-5pmCT/2pm-6pmET, preceding the service. A private military burial service will be held on Friday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Road, Nicholasville, KY.



Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are his Sunday school class members, pastors of the Casey Co. Baptist Association and his golfing buddies.

Bro. John Dean, Dunnville, KY (1936-2014)

He was born on Sunday, August 2, 1936 in Wess, Casey County, KY. He was a son of the late John William "Bill" Dean and Velma Wright Dean. He died Monday, November 3, 2014, in Dunnville, KY, at the age of 78 years, three months, and two days.

Bro. John was a longtime Baptist minister, serving as minister of Blue Lick Baptist Church, Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, and Locust Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and attended the Dunnville Christian Church. Known for his good nature and wit, Dugan was a loving husband, proud father/grandfather and an avid golfer. Always ready with a smile, his generosity, faithful walk with Christ and selfless nature will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Martha Bertram Dean, and the following:
  • Two sons: Dr. Johnie (Mindy) Dean and Kevin (Bev) Dean

  • Three daughters: Teresa Bailey, Nancy (Mike) Marinaro, and Jennifer (Doug) Tarter

  • Seven grandchildren: Anthony (Angie) Dean, Jessica (Casey) Miracle, Justin (Jennifer) Atwood, Sarai (Kelley) Williams, Derek (Ashley) Dean, Katie (Ryan) Sproles, and Kelley (Sara) Tarter

  • Ten great-grandchildren

  • Brothers: Leonard (Margie) Dean and Larry (Phyllis) Dean

  • Four sisters: Rosa (George) Bertram, Betty Carmicle, Maryann (Wilbert) Blair, and Linda (Fred) Peavey

  • Two sisters-in-law: Mildred Dean and Peggy Dean

  • And a host of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Dean and Ralph Dean; and a nephew, Greg Dean.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Lake Cumberland Area Hospice or the Dunnville Christian Church Building Fund.
