LWC's Perez, Henriksson sweep MSC Women's soccer awards Fourth defensive weekly honor of the season for Henriksson By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - Lyana Perez and Johanna Henriksson are the Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday. The weekly honor is the fourth this season for Henriksson, while Perez earns her first conference award of the season. Perez scored twice and added an assist in Lindsey Wilson's 6-1 upset of No. 1-ranked Cumberland (TN) last week to earn MSC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The Lima, Peru, sophomore forward scored the first two Lindsey Wilson goals against the previously unbeaten Bulldogs. After falling behind 1-0, Perez scored 32 seconds apart off rebounds to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-1 lead through the first 14 minutes of the match. The two-goal game is Perez's third multiple-goal game of the season. She added an assist in the 66th minute to give her five total points for the match. Perez is tied for fourth in the Mid-South with 11 goals and ranks seventh in the conference with 25 points. Her four game-winning goals are tied for second in the MSC and 27th in the NAIA. Henriksson provided another solid outing between the pipes in the Lindsey Wilson win to earn the MSC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The Boras, Sweden, sophomore goalkeeper collected six saves after allowing an early goal against the top-ranked Bulldogs. Entering the match, Cumberland was averaging nearly five goals per match. Henriksson leads the Mid-South and ranks eighth in the NAIA this season with a 0.53 goals against average. No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson improved to 9-3-3 overall and captured the Mid-South regular-season title with a 6-0-1 conference mark after defeating Cumberland.
