Adair Co. collection for Operation Christmas Child: Fri 17 Nov - Fri 14 Nov 2014 By Denise Fudge Adair residents are packing joy into shoeboxes for children in need overseas. With holiday supplies already covering the store shelves, individuals, families, churches and groups in and around Adair County are working to make Christmas a reality for kids in need around the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement. National collection week, observed in Columbia, KY, November 17-24, 2014 operating hours above, at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene Wheet Fellowship Hall, 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY. Anyone can drop off a gift-filled shoebox to send to a child overseas during the collection hours (See : Operation Christmas Child Schedule. Then, using whatever means necessary - trucks, trains, boats, bikes, and even elephants -the shoebox gifts will then be hand-delivered to children worldwide. For many children, this shoebox gift will be the first gift they have ever received. Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 113 million shoebox gifts to suffering children in more than 150 countries since 1993, and hopes to collect another 10 million gift-filled shoeboxes in 2014.
