Vernell Bennett Yates, Green County, KY (1942-2014)

She was a native of Metcalfe County, KY, and a resident of Green County at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Clifton Bennett and Nora Bragg Bennett. Her husband of over 16 years, Andrew "Andy" Yates, survives. She leaves three direct living descendants. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Adair County. She was also Manager for the Bella's Smoke Shop.

Mrs. Vernell Bennett Yates, 73, of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was 73 years, two months, and one day of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Vernell Bennett Yates will be conducted at 11amCT, Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens in Summersville, Kentucky. Bro. Joseph Wilcoxson will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 12pmCT-8pmCT, Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the Cowherd and Parrott funeral Home and after 7amCT, Monday until time of the funeral service.

Mrs. Vernell Bennett Yates of Greensburg, Kentucky, was the daughter of the late Clifton Bennett and Nora Bragg Bennett. She was born on Friday, August 30, 1942 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky. She was 73 years, two months, and one day of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Adair County. She was also Manager for the Bella's Smoke Shop.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew "Andy" Yates of Greensburg, having united in marriage in April of 1998.

Other survivors include:
  • A son: Shannon Tedrow of Greensburg, KY

  • Two grandsons: Josh Tedrow and Jordan Tedrow both of Greensburg, KY

  • A brother: Loren V. Bennett of Metcalfe County, KY

  • Three sisters: Bernice Wisdom, Virginia "Genie" Coomer both of Metcalfe County, KY; and Delcie Gibson of Indiana

  • and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Yates was also preceded in death by a grandson: Justin Hardin.
