She was the daughter of the late Robety and Mary Anderson Pettyjohn, and the widow of husbands Clifford Carter and later Charles Shaffe. She leaves a large faamily, 46 direct and two step living descendants. She was a member of the Columbia Christian Church and a homemaker. She was married to Clifford Carter who preceded her in death on January 21, 1973 and later married Charles Shaffer who preceded her in death on July 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren. She is survived by the following:
