Lola Shaffer, 95, Adair County, KY (1919-2014)

She was born on New Year's Day in 1919, in Somerset, KY and died at age 95 in Columbia, KY. She was the daughter of the late Robety and Mary Anderson Pettyjohn, and the widow of husbands Clifford Carter and later Charles Shaffe. She leaves a large faamily, 46 direct and two step living descendants. She was a member of the Columbia Christian Church and a homemaker.

Lola Shaffer age 95 years a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center of Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:30amCT, at Summit Manor.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KYin charge of funeral arrangements. Clergy officiating Bro. David Coffey & Bro. Charles Edwards. Interment in Freedom Cemetery in Adair County, 576 Freedom Church Road, Russell Springs, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the funeral home.

She was born on New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1, 1919 in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Anderson Pettyjohn. She died Saturday, November 1, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 95 years, 10 months.

She was married to Clifford Carter who preceded her in death on January 21, 1973 and later married Charles Shaffer who preceded her in death on July 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren.

She is survived by the following:
  • Four daughters: Edna Davis of Columbia, KY; Carolyn (Kelly) Hamlett of Columbia, KY; Mary (Lewis) Stargel of Russell Springs, KY; and Nancy (Jerry) Burton of Columbia, KY.

  • Step-children: Jim Shaffer of IL & Ruth Compton of Missouri
  • Nine grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren

  • Seventeen great great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives & friends
