Mr. Moss Marcum, Adair County, KY, Green County , KY native (1916-2014)

He was a highly valued citizen of with vast treasure of friendships built over almost a century of time. He was a native of Green County and a resident of Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Claud Marcum and Alice Vaughn Marcum. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Beatrice Caven Marcum of Columbia, KY. He leaves six direct living descendants, spanning three generations, including many in Adair and Metcalfe Counties of South Central KY. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Church of the Nazarene. He was a life-long farmer.

Mr. Moss Marcum, 98, of Columbia, KY, formerly of Green County, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. Moss Marcum will be conducted at 1pmCT, Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Bro. Scott Ezell, and Bro. David Kemp will be officiating. Visitation is requested 2pm-8pmCT, Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Monday until time of the funeral service. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: John Hubbard, Brandon Bell, Neal Marcum, Winfred Bonta, Benjamin Whitlock, Kenny Chase Grady DeWitt, and Wayne Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers: Adam Whitlock, Olyn Caven, C.R. Mears, James Skaggs, Jack Grimsley, Doug Wright, Charlie Witty, Pete Vaughn, Tilford Loy, Bill Lile, Jimmy Coakley, Rickie Williams, K.I. Riddle, and Hidden Valley Beauty Salon Employees.

Mr. Moss Marcum, Adair Co, KY, formerly of Green Co., KY (1916-2014)

He was the son of the late Claud Marcum and Alice Vaughn Marcum, was born on September 15, 1916 in Green County, Kentucky. He departed this life on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, Adair County, KY. He was 98 years, one month and nine days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Church of the Nazarene. He was a life-long farmer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Beatrice Caven Marcum of Columbia, KY. They were united in marriage on May 30, 1940.

Other survivors include:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Charlotte and Ronnie Hubbard of Columbia, KY

  • Two grandchildren: John Hubbard of Columbia, KY; and LeAnne Bell and husband Brandon of Edmonton, KY

  • Three great-grandchildren: Samuel Drake Bell, Claudia Jaden Bell, and Mary Cate Bell, all from Edmonton, KY
Mr. Moss was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Ray Marcum.
