Change to 2014 Winter Pool for Green River Lake

By Andrea O'Bryan
Park Ranger, Green River Lake

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District

GREEN RIVER LAKE, KY - Due to scheduled maintenance at the Green River Lake Control Tower, the Louisville District Corps of Engineers has approved a temporary change in the lake's 2014 drawdown.

Since 2002, the winter pool elevation has been 668 feet mean sea level (msl). Historically, the winter pool elevation was 664' msl. The approved deviation will allow Green River Lake to return to its historic winter pool elevation of 664' msl for just this one year.

Upon completion of the work at the control tower, the lake will start rising to 668' msl where it will remain until March 15, at which time the normal schedule will be followed to bring the lake to its normal summer pool of 675' msl.

Daily lake levels at Green River Lake can be monitored on the Internet at http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/Missions/CivilWorks/Recreation/Lakes/GreenRiverLake.aspx.

After accessing the web page, scroll and click on Lake Levels in the middle of the page.

Additional information about this 1-year change will be posted on Green River Lake's Facebook page.

For questions, please contact the Corps of Engineers Green River Lake Office at (270) 465-4463.
