Traffic Impact Report for 20-24 Oct 2014 BG District

New interchange US 68/Louie B. Nunn, Edmonton, KY big news as four decade old goal for community nears completion. Other work areas included I-65, Barren County, and more

Bowling Green, KY - The expected traffic impacts for Oct. 20 through Oct. 24 are listed below. All work is subject to change.

Metcalfe County

- US 68/ Louie B Nunn Parkway- Grade work and paving operations will continue for the new interchange project. Trucks and equipment will be entering and exiting the road in this area. The northern section of Harvey Hurt Road (across from Industrial Drive) remains closed to through traffic. Local traffic will need to use the southern approach from U.S. 68 to access Harvey Hurt Road.
- Industrial Dr. (KY 3524)- Industrial Drive is closed from U.S. 68 to Sumitomo as part of the new interchange construction. Motorists will need to follow the detour along U.S. 68 turning onto Ky. 80 and then onto Industrial Dr. until further notice.
- Louie B. Nunn Parkway- There will be lane closures in both directions on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway at mile marker 29 through mile marker 31. Contractors will begin paving operations on the parkway behind lane closures.

I-65

- Crews will be paving the northbound lanes of I-65 between mile marker 53 and mile marker 59 near Cave City. Crews will be utilizing rolling roadblocks and temporary lane closures as needed between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to direct traffic around the construction activities and to shift north bound lanes to their final configuration. Crews will be working in the median around mile marker 55 to construct the base for a new overhead variable message sign.

Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, work for 20-24 Oct follow



Barren County

> - KY 70/KY 90- Construction crews will be working on pavement markings and signs. Flaggers will be present as needed.
- KY 90- (Between Adam McCreary Road and Ky. 839) - Earthwork operations will continue. Expect an increase in construction traffic and intermittent flagging operations. Traffic will be switched to the new alignment between Green Valley Road and Hillwood Road. Motorists should be aware that the speed limit has been reduced through the construction zone.
- Outer Loop- Lane closures remain in place for both directions on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway between mile marker 8 through mile marker 10. Contractors will still have construction traffic entering and leaving the parkway, U.S. 68 and Ky. 1297 throughout the week.
- KY 90 (Happy Valley Rd)- Expect lane closures and flagging between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews begin paving operations between the Beaver Creek bridge and Valley View Drive.
- KY 70- Contractors will continue working on an asphalt resurfacing project on Ky. 70 from the intersection of Ky. 90 to the Metcalfe County line.
- KY 63- Tompkinsville Road will be reduced to one lane at the Shoal Creek bridge at mile marker 3.3. One lane will remain closed for approximately the next two weeks for bridge repairs. Motorists should expect to stop as temporary traffic signals will be utilized to maintain traffic.

Butler County

- US 231, MP 9-11. As weather permits, the contractor will continue work as part of the U.S. 231 widening project. Throughout the project there may be multiple lane closures with flaggers in place from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Both lanes of traffic have been switched onto a portion of the newly constructed roadway. Motorists are encouraged to stay off of their phones and be aware of new traffic patterns. During morning and afternoon rush hours the delay may be up to 10 minutes. Motorists may also want to consider an alternate route. The speed limit is 35 mph through this construction zone.

Edmonson County

- KY 728 – Contractors will continue to work on an asphalt resurfacing project on Nolin Dam Road (Ky. 728) from the intersection of Jock Road (Ky. 2336) to the intersection of Cub Run Road (Ky. 1827).
Logan County

- KY 79, MP 6-7- Both lanes of traffic are shifted onto a temporary diversion through a portion of the project. Message boards and signs are in place to direct traffic. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and to watch for construction traffic entering and exiting the project area. The speed limit is 35 mph through this construction zone.
- KY 79, MP 7-12 – Maintenance crews will have a lane closure with flaggers in place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. while overhanging vegetation is removed from the right of way.
- KY 1151- Will close from Oct. 20 through Oct. 22 at the intersection of Ferguson Road and Ky. 1151 near the Red River for railroad crossing work. The detour will utilize Ky. 1151 and Ky. 1041.
