Wet-Dry Petition deadline for submission is 30 Sep 2014 It's a real nail-biter. Organizer, Paul Carter, 105 Richards Lane, Columbia, KY - Phone 270-384-1650 , says he needs every petition turned in now to be sure of a cushion for those signatures which might be invalidated, and is urging supporters to get more names and bring in those already collected before 12pm noon CT, Monday, 29 Sep 2014 so that the can meet the deadline at, 4pmCT Tuesday, 30 Sep 2014 to have signatures to Clerk Joyce Rodgers office. If 1788 signatures are validated, there will be a Wet-Dry Election in Adair County sometime in the time frame of December 5-December 31, 2014. By Ed Waggener Whether there will be a Wet-Dry Election is Adair County this year is coming down to the wire. Paul Carter, the organizer of the petition said that he will have to turn in the petitions by 4pmCT, Tuesday, September 30, 2014, and that he will have to have 1788 valid names to get the petition on the ballot. Earlier, he had sounded more confident that there would be sufficient signatures, but now he said, "I'm worried. We have more than enough signatures," but if too many are invalidated, it won't make it to a vote," he said. "I need everyone who has petitions which have not been turned in to do so between now and Monday, September 29, 2014, so that I can have them ready by the deadline. Adair County Clerk Joyce Rodgers said that if there are enough valid signatures, the vote will have to take place sometime between December 5 and December 31, 2014.
