CJE Ann Melton responds to Bill Henson on road funds issue

CJE equates promises of blacktop in exchange for votes to vote buying, which is illegal, whether 'it's always been done,' or not.
In response to: Bill Henson on Road Money Issue: Way it's always been

By Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton
Personal Commentary

Thanks Bill Henson.

Finally, someone gets it and admits it. With 600 miles of county roads to maintain, I, as County Judge, welcome anyone who brings additional road funds to Adair county.

You are right, Bill, it's not the first time.

It's been done in very recent times.

I CAN PROUDLY SAY I HAVE NEVER ASK FOR VOTES IN THE NAME OF BLACKTOP.

Last I checked buying votes is illegal. When I ran for County Judge in 2006 I would not have dreamed of going to then Governor Fletcher to ask him to let me have control of tax dollars to campaign with. This is WRONG, IT'S UGLY, and it's completely unethical.

s/Ann Melton
