He was a retired appliance salesman having worked at Henry Durham and Son, Crabtree Firestone Store and Noe and Ratcliffe. He was the son of the late Russell and Iva Murrell Miller. His wife of over 61 years, Dorene Dowell Miller, survives. He leaves 15 direct living descendants.
