Dr. Smith wonders why Rep. Carney pushes unqualified roads By Roger D Smith Personal commentary Dear Ed: I am in something of a conundrum over these road funds. I just don't understand the evident stand-off of how the funds are to be used. The state man has said that certain roads don't qualify for the funds, but our state representative, Mr. Carney, says do them anyway. I don't think that if I were Judge Executive or a candidate for the office that I would feel comfortable with this advice. If the funds are misused, who answers to the state officals? In turn does the County stand to pay for the road work without any state funds, or do we lose all the funds. It would seem that the best course of action would be to heed the advice of the state officals and do as much as we can to live within their rules. We have to remember that the BOSS may not always be right, BUT HE IS STILL THE BOSS! - Roger D Smith This story was posted on 2014-09-21 06:10:06
