He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Herlan Polston and the late Dorothy Burris Polston. He leaves five direct living descendants. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He had retired from Fruit of the Loom after 30 years of service.

Funeral services at 12pmCT/1pmET, Monday, September 15, 2014, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. Donnie Shelly and Rev. Steve Wagger. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old US 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the funeral home.

J.R. "Slick" Polston of Campbellsville, KY, was the son of the late Herlan Polston Sr. and Dorothy Burris Polston. He was born December 10, 1946, in Jamestown, Russell County, Kentucky. He died, Friday, September 12, 2014 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 67 years, nine months, and two days..

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Tammy Phillips and husband, Gary of Campbellsville, KY; and Tonja Polston and partner, Nancy Wallace of Lebanon, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Tyler Phillips and wife, Tracy of Campbellsville, KY; Garrett Phillips of Bowling Green and Kendall Polston of Lebanon, KY

  • Two sisters: Katie Brockman and Patty Polston

  • One brother: Dwight Polston all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Brenda Lee Wolverton, Rena Melton, Martha Hoosier and Joyce Dicken.
