LWC Men's Soccer Posts Third-Straight Shutout By: Tyler Scott COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 3-Ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team shut out visiting Bryan (Tenn.) 2-0 Saturday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. The Blue Raider (3-0-0) defense put forth another solid performance in their third-consecutive shutout to start the season. Lindsey Wilson held the Lions (3-1-0) to five shots on the night, forcing goalkeeper Dalyan Hawes to make two saves. Hawes provided his third clean sheet of the season in the win. Offensively, Aleksi Pahkasalo and Adis Islamovic provided goals for Lindsey Wilson. Pahkasalo was the first to score in the 35th minute. The Vantaa, Finland, native found himself alone with the ball outside of the 18-yard box and fired a laser that sailed over Josh Oldroyd's head into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. It marks the second goal of the season for Pahkasalo and team-leading sixth point overall. In the second half, Islamovic found the back of the net in the 68th minute. Keane McIvor raced down the sideline to keep the ball in play near the end line before toe-poking the ball past the Bryan defender to a waiting Islamovic, who slotted it home from 15 yards out for the 2-0 lead. The lead would be enough as the Blue Raider defense held Bryan without a shot for the final 20 minutes of play. Lindsey Wilson finished with a 15-5 shot advantage, including 10 in the second half. Bryan's Oldroyd made three saves in goal but surrendered both scores in the loss.
