LWC's Men's Cross Country takes second place at Asbury

Garry Korir led the Blue Raiders with a sixth-place finish. Campbellsville (KY) University won the team race. Campbellsville's Brett Pierce won the overall race with a time of 16:21.0.

WILMORE, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's cross country team began their 2014 season with a runner-up finish at the Asbury Invitational on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders completed the 5K event with a team time of 1:32:36.60. Lindsey Wilson accumulated 69 total points on the day, narrowly beating out Brescia (KY) who finished in third with 72 points.



Garry Korir paced the Blue Raiders with a sixth-place finish after completing the race in 17:40.6. Greg Smithson fell just shy of a top-10 finish with a time of 18:05.1, taking 11th place.

Cody Hymer placed 18th with a time of 18:42.5, with freshman Ben Hoffman finishing just behind in 20th place at 19:01.9.

Marcus Terrell (22nd), Trevor Shearer (25th) and Clay Priddy (27th) were the final Blue Raiders to score points.

Campbellsville (KY) won the team race with a time of 1:25:15.40 and 19 team points. Brescia took third, followed by Asbury (KY) in fourth and Union (KY) in fifth. Campbellsville's Brett Pierce won the overall race with a time of 16:21.0.
