COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team leads visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) 3-1/2 to 1-1/2 in the annual President's Cup matches following today's first round at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders also lead the stroke-play event after today's team even-par round of 284. Campbellsville fired an 8-over par 292 with tomorrow's final round slated for 8:30amCT at The Pines.

Lindsey Wilson captured three of the five better ball matches and tied in a fourth for the team lead. The matches consisted of two-man teams where each player plays his own ball and the team takes the lower of their two scores (the better ball, in other words) to count as the team's score.

Nathan Hincks and Ryan Nowe provided the most convincing win of the day with a 3 & 2 -- the Lindsey Wilson team was up three holes with two holes left in the round -- victory over Jared Fannin and Michael Petitti.

Jake Wall and Clayton Bradshaw picked up a 2-Up win over Dalton Olson and Pierce Dahl while Alex Durham and Chris Butler won their match over Wade Cave and Dylan Bray 1-Up.

Jordan Hagan and Jonathon Grabara secured a half of a point by tying Campbellsville's James Higgins and Justin Hazel over the 18 holes. The lone Campbellsville win came from Tanner Hall and Michael Newton as they defeated Federico Navarro and Zach Madewell 2 & 1.

Hazel leads the stroke play tournament -- playing as an individual -- with a 4-under par 67. He leads Newton (68) by one stroke and Hincks (69) by two strokes with 18 holes remaining. Bradshaw was the fourth player to break par on the par-71 course with a 1-under par 70. Durham shot an even-par 71 to stand in fifth in the 20-man tournament.

Lindsey Wilson has won four of the five meetings in the President's Cup, including a 10-5 victory last season. After today's play, the Blue Raiders have won 58-1/2 points compared to 28-1/2 points for the Tigers.

The President's Cup continues at 8:30amCT on Sunday with 10 singles matches at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson, 275 Country Club Road, Columbia, KY.
