Adair Schools request safe school assessment

Team of six educators will spend full day on campus

By Alan W. Reed

Adair County Schools recently requested a safe school assessment by the Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) in a ongoing effort to monitor and review campus-wide safety and security.

KCSS has confirmed that a team of six educators will spend a full day in the month of October at each school being assessed. The team will assess a number of issues related to safety, climate and culture. Student and faculty-staff surveys will also be a part of the process. The School Resource Officer (SRO) will be included.

Information gathered from the day long site visit will be used by Adair County Schools to improve the district's safety plan during its annual review. - ALAN W. REED, Superintendent, Adair County Schools, Columbia, KY.
