CU's Ratchford and Howard sweep NCCAA weekly awards By Chris Megginson CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University freshmen Madison Ratchford and Amanda Howard swept the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week awards Tuesday, August 26, 2014, after helping CU women's soccer its first 2-0 start since 2005. Ratchford, a freshman forward from Taylorsville, KY, scored in each of Campbellsville's games in Marion, NC Here first goal was the eventual game-winner in a 2-0 shutout at Montreat College on Friday, August 22, and then scored again in a 2-1 win over Truett-McConnell College on Saturday. Howard, a freshman goalkeeper from Harrodsburg, KY, made her collegiate debut at CU with a seven-save shutout win over Montreat and then had two saves in the win against TMC. Howard ended the two-game week with 9 saves and a .500 goals against average. "Madison and Amanda are both deserving of this award this past week. Their play helped us get off to our best start at 2-0. I'm very proud of both of them," CU head coach Thom Jones said. Tuesday's NCCAA awards are the first of the 2014 season.
