Roger Smith: Pillars part of childhood, bases for old lampposts

Comments re article 69311 Concrete pillars deserve this much attention.
(Update: Validation of Dr. Smith's assertion has been discovered by another honor score home Jeopardy champion. See indisputable evidence: LOCAL HISTORY FROM CYRUS: A little over 60 years, the Public Square got all lit)

Roger D Smith DMD writes:
Ed, Does my memory slip,or aren't these concrete pillars the bases for the old lights that used to be around the square when we were kids before the new aluminum poles were placed? If so, then leave them alone--they trouble me not--for now I am aged and love the things of my childhood! --Roger D Smith DMD
Thanks Roger D. Smith for that input. I think you're right that they are bases for Lamp Posts. Maybe one day we'll have Lamp Posts again. Many like those, even if they are newly installed retro-design, versus the alumdedumb things. -EW
