Early morning pursuit uncovers drugs and weapons

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY - At 10amET on Monday August 18, 2014, CVE Officer Nicholas Pruitt observed a grey Ford passenger car speeding while conducting patrol near the Upton KY exit. Officer Pruitt attempted to stop the vehicle which continued on at a high rate of speed onto KY 224 before losing control and coming to rest on a guardrail.

The occupants identified as Anthony Alonzo and a passenger Jonathon Lovett, both of Louisville, KY, attempted to elude Officer Pruitt but were quickly detained and placed under arrest.

Numerous drugs, including marijuana and suspected crystal meth were located; in addition to drug paraphernalia, several large knives, and a handgun. Both subjects were arrested and criminal charges including possession and trafficking of the drugs are pending. KSP was assisted by Elizabethtown Police Dept. K-9. The case remains under investigation by Officer Pruitt.
