LWC Women's Soccer favored to win MSC title in 2014 Lindsey Wilson College Women Blue Raiders received 47 total voting points and five first-place votes. Cumberland picked second, Campbellsville third, and St. Catharine fifth Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team is picked to win the Mid-South Conference title in 2014, according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Tuesday by conference officials. The Blue Raiders received 47 total voting points and five of the eight first-place votes from the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. Lindsey Wilson captured the MSC Tournament title in 2013 before falling in double overtime in the NAIA National Semifinals to eventual national champion Concordia (OR). The Blue Raiders had captured the MSC regular-season title for 13 consecutive seasons from 2000-2012 before a 1-0 loss to Cumberland (Tenn.) in 2013. The loss marked the first ever regular-season loss to a MSC opponent for the Blue Raiders, snapping an 82-game unbeaten streak (80-0-2). Defending regular-season champions Cumberland is second in the poll with 44 voting points and the remaining three first-place votes. Campbellsville (KY) is third with 32 points followed by Georgetown (KY) and St. Catharine (KY) tied for fourth with 28 points. Shawnee State (OH) is sixth with 23 total voting points followed by Cumberlands (KY) with 12 and Pikeville (KY) with 10. This story was posted on 2014-08-12 14:20:15
