By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson baseball student-athlete Scott Sebald earned second team all-conference honors in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.

Sebald, a junior from Cincinnati, OH, finished the summer season with a 5-2 record pitching for GLSCL member Cincinnati Steam. He finished tied for the league lead in wins and posted a 2.95 earned run average. In his eight starting pitching appearances, Sebald threw 39 and two thirds innings recording 29 strikeouts with just 11 walks.

Sebald was also selected to the GLSCL South All-Star Team and retired the only batter he faced in the all-star game earlier this season. On July 26, Sebald threw a two-hit shutout to help secure a playoff spot for the Steam.

Three other members of the Steam earned conference honors including student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools Xavier (Ohio) University, University of Tennessee and Wright State (Ohio) University.

The Steam wrapped up the season with a 21-19 record and finished fourth in the final GLSCL standings. Cincinnati was eliminated from postseason play following a 2-0 loss to two-time defending champion Licking County Settlers. - Charles Balcom, Lindsey Wilson College
