Sulphur Well Homecoming: Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 16-17, 2014 By Gaye Shaw The Annual Sulphur Well Homecoming will be this weekend Saturday-Sunday, August 16-17, 2014 at the Sulphur Well Park, in the Metcalfe County Community of Sulphur Well, 1500 Sulphur Well-Knob Lick Road, Edmonton, KY . Kyla Curry will conduct the third annual Miss Sulphur Well Homecoming Pageant on Saturday, August 16. 2014 held at the Mollie Thompson Annex Building at Sulphur Well United Methodist Church, 1755 Sulphur Well-Knob Lick Road, Edmonton, KY.vThe pageant registration begins at 11:00amCT with pageant time being 12:00pm. For more information contact Kyla at 2790-432-7232. The North Metcalfe County Volunteer Fire Department will serve a meal on Saturday beginning from 5:00pm-9:00pmCT. Modern Woodmen of America will match any sales made that night and also on Sunday's meal. On Sunday, there will be a community church service conducted by Sulphur Well United Methodist Church at 11amCT. In the upper part of the Sulphur Well Park, gospel singing will be begin about 1:30pmCT. There will be a Cruise-In of collector and antique cars, trucks, etc.. No fees, no hassle! There will be a Children's Pet Show beginning at 1:30pmCT and children's games at 2:30pmCT. The 13th Annual Liz Jeffries Memorial Duck Race will begin at 3pmCT on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the Sulphur Well Park. Ducks are available for adoption for a lowly fee of $5.00 per duck. The race is limited to 1000 ducks. One may get a Quack Pack (6 ducks) for only $25.00 or an entire flock of 25 ducks for only $100 (that's 5 free ducks). Adoption is available at the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce Office, 109 E Stockton Street, Edmonton, KY; Edmonton State Bank, 118 S Main Street, Edmonton, KY; and Metcalfe Drugs, 115 E Stockton Street, Edmonton, KY. If any adoption certificates are unsold on race day, they will be available prior to the race. All adoption fees will be used for community projects by the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce. Chris Allen, WBKO television personality will be the Official Race Judge, choosing the winning ducks. This year the big first place prize is $500 Cash! The parents of the second duck chosen will win a $200 gift card donated by Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. The parents of the third duck to cross the finish line will win a $100 shopping spree from Edmonton IGA Foods. The fourth place prize of a girls or boys bicycle donated by the Clark Bottling will be given. And finally but not least, the 5th place prize will be a night out at home including a dinner for two donated by the Lighthouse Restaurant; and two tickets to any 2014 production donated by Barn Lot Theater. Yes, things in Sulphur Well will be "ducky" on August 17th. Come experience the enjoyment and fun in person. Adopt a duck.
