Two vehicle collision takes lives of two Taylor Co. Kentuckians Taylor Countian and passenger pronounced deceased at Westlake Regional Hospital; driver of second vehicle and his two passengers also taken to Westlake. CPD Officer Drew Conn and Sgt. Josh Brockman, Public Information Officer Columbia Police Department, Jason Cross, Chief On Friday, August 8, 2014 Columbia Police Department responded to a report of an injury accident at the intersection of KY 55 South and the Adair County Veterans Memorial Bypass. The accident resulted in the loss of life of two Taylor County residents. The accident occurred when a 2005 Dodge Neon being operated by Martha Boggs age 73 and her passenger John Boggs age 64 both of Taylor County were traveling east on the bypass failed to stop at the intersection and was struck in the passenger side by a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 truck operated by Ed Grider, age 66, of Adair County and his passengers Florbel Monjuras age 31 and Hugo Vasquez Monjuras age 33 also of Adair County. As a result of the collision passenger John Boggs was entrapped in the Dodge Neon and Columbia Adair County Fire Department had to extricate him by mechanical means. All five passengers were treated on scene and transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by Adair County EMS. Grider and his passengers are currently in stable condition. Martha Boggs and her husband John Boggs were pronounced deceased at the Westlake Regional ER by Adair County Coroner Todd Akin's office. Next of kin notifications were verified through Coroner Akin prior to release. The collision is being investigated by CPD Ofc. Drew Conn with assistance from Sgt. Tracy McCarol. Columbia Police Dept, Adair County Sheriff Dept., Columbia Adair County Fire Department, and Adair County EMS responded to scene. - Ofc. Josh Brockman This story was posted on 2014-08-08 16:29:49
