KSP investigating Casey County death

Investigation indicates that deceased was carrying a potted marijuana plant and a knife, and tripped while crossing fence, with a resulting stab in the chest. Autopsy to be performed. No foul play is suspected.

LIBERTY, KY - Detective B.J. Burton is investigating the death of 40-year-old Barry R. Wilson, of Liberty, KY. On Saturday, August 2, 2014, at approximately 6:10pmET, Post 15 received a call from Casey County dispatch in reference to a deceased male who was found in the yard of his residence on KY 501 south.



The investigation revealed that Wilson had been walking down an embankment, carrying a potted marijuana plant and a knife, when he attempted to cross a fence and tripped, falling on the knife and stabbing himself in the upper left chest. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Casey County Coroner. An autopsy will be performed and no foul play is expected. The case remains under investigation.
