Colton Back, son of Pat Back and Jamie McQueary and Taylor Grider, son of Barry Grider and Sandy Cunningham play for the Bluegrass Stars 18u team based out of Lexington, Kentucky. The Stars won 5 out of 7 tournaments this summer with only two of these being played in Kentucky. The tournaments won were Morse Mustang Tournament in Danville, KY; Bluegrass Stars Tournament in Russell Springs, KY; Indiana University Southeast Tournament of Champions in New Albany, IN; Battle at the Lake in Hamersville, OH and the Grand Slam World Series which was held in Panama City Beach, Florida this last week. The Stars are coached by Tom Brooks, Steve Mitchell, Tommy Warner and Jerry Adams. The coaches all said that Colton and Taylor were key components to the success of the Stars all season long. Colton Back has excelled defensively all season and hit over 300 in the last 8 games. Taylor Grider pitched 5 no-hitters this season with one of those being in the semi-final game at the World Series against Rutherford, Florida. Both Colton and Taylor will be seniors for the Laker team this year. David Rexroat, Head Coach for the Russell County Laker Baseball team says that both Colton and Taylor are great young men who love the game. They are hard-working young men who have bright futures ahead of them.
