Anna Lee Burris, Hustonville, KY (1923-2014)

She was the administrator of Green River Rest Home for 42 years before retiring in 2004. She was the chairperson of the Casey County Democratic Party for years and also worked in the office of the late Governor Wallace G. Wilkinson. She was a native of Leslie County, KY and a resident of Hustonville, KY at the tiime of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hall Burris. She leaves 11 direct living descendants.

Anna Lee Burris of Hustonville, KY, passed away peacefully Friday, July 18, 2014 in Stanford, KY. She was 91.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10amCT/11amET, Monday, July 21, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Charlie Douglas and Bro. Jim Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Casey County Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Sunday, July 20, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET.



Pallbearers: Tyler Baylee Evans, Chris Evans, Jospeh Burris, Thomas Burris, Brad Wesley and Otis Reed.

Honorary pallbearers: Frank Kinnard, Jimmy Evans, Mike Ryan, Jerel Coffey, Bill Hansford, and Bob Coppings.

Anna Lee Burris, Hustonville, KY (1923-2014)

Born Monday, January 1, 1923 in Hyden, Leslie County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Olen and Sarah Collett Collins. She died Friday, July 18, 2014, in Stanford, Lincoln County, KY, at the age of 91 years, six months, and 17 days.

She was the administrator of Green River Rest Home for 42 years before retiring in 2004. She was the chairperson of the Casey County Democratic Party for years and also worked in the office of the late Governor Wallace G. Wilkinson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hall Burris, who passed away May 7, 1971; granddaughter, Ellen Burris (twin to Alitta); and brother, John Collins.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her loving granddaughter: Alitta Burris (and Chris) Evans of Hustonville, KY

  • A son: Marion (and Vera) Burris of Danville, KY

  • Daughter: Wendy (and Allen ) Van Lenten of Danville, KY

  • Grandchildren: Joseph Burris and Thomas Burris both of Danville, KY; Elizabeth (and Brandon) Tingle of Frankfort, KY; and Sam (and Tina) McGohon of Elizabethtown, KY

  • Great-grandchildren: Tyler Baylee Evans and Taylor Leann Evans both of Hustonville, KY; Remington Lynne Tingle of Frankfort, KY; and Olivia Ann McGohon of Elizabethtown, KY

  • A sister: Kathryn Barnes of Florence, KY

  • Two special friends: Marilyn Coffey and Leanne Coffey Davis of Liberty, KY

  • And her two beloved dogs and companions, Homer and Rufus
