KY 417 highway memorializes Green County, Kentuckian

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (July 15, 2014) - Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Traffic Crews have installed memorial designation signs on sections of area roads according to a resolution recently passed by Kentucky's General Assembly.

In Green County, KY 417 is designated "Ryan J. Montgomery Memorial Highway". This legislative designation is sponsored by State Senator, David Givens. According to his Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, obituary: Sgt. Ryan Jay Montgomery/Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, "Sgt. Ryan Jay Montgomery, the son of Raymond Jay Montgomery of Greensburg and Patricia Cheryl Thompson Montgomery of Campbellsville, was born Friday, January 28, 1983 in Louisville and departed this life serving his Country on Sunday, July 3, 2005 in Iraq near Baghdad. He was 22 years, 5 months and 5 days of age." His funeral was held at Green County Middle School in Greensburg, KY.

In Marion County, the KY 1183 bridge near the intersection of Manton Spur Road is designated "Sister Sodelbia Hughes Memorial Bridge". This legislative designation is sponsored by State Senator, Jimmy Higdon.

Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County between the intersections of US 31E and KY 55 is designated "Officer Jason Ellis Memorial Highway". This legislative designation is sponsored by State Representative, David Floyd. Across KYTC District Four's 11 counties, a total of four designations are included in the resolution. Additionally, in Hardin County, KY 361 between KY 220 and KY 313 is designated "Nathaniel D. Garvin Memorial Highway". This legislative designation is sponsored by State Representative, Tim Moore and State Representative, Hubert Collins. Signs for this section of road will be installed following an upcoming ceremony.
