Excellent explanation: Gardening hat? A reflected hamburger! Just a reflected illusion, April Shepperd says, analyzing all the elements. She also offers a defense of the Virginia Creeper, saying it will not harm building and will keep it cooler. The Final Word (we think); more time for an explanation of the Historic Adair County Courthouse ghost or ghosts. Comments re article 68295 Thinks womans image in photo is reflection of person in Moores By April Shepperd Everyone can set their minds at ease. The "gardening hat" is nothing more than a hamburger on a plate that is painted on the outside window of Moore's. I would speculate, as a photojournalist, based on the shooting angle of the photographer, that the "body and arm" is that of the photographer himself. Even with the lack of direct sunlight, glass is very reflective and it seems that the "person" in the window is nothing more than a reflective illusion. As far as the question concerning the climbing vine, yes, it is indeed a Virginia Creeper. They are ornamental plants quite often raised and purchased for use as a shading vine for buildings. Because the vine adheres to the surface by disks rather than penetrating roots, it will not harm the masonry and will keep a building cooler by shading the wall surface during the summer. The plant is harmless to humans. In fact, it is often used as a herbal remedy for intestinal and urinary tract problems. - April Shepperd This story was posted on 2014-07-02 04:20:09
