Major bids scheduled to be awarded Monday by AC School Board

Demolition bids, JAIS and Col. Casey + construction bids for construction of satellite Lake Cumberland Technology Center, and canopies for Adair County High School and Adair County Middle School. (Canopies are already built for Adair County Elementary and Adair County Primary Center.)

The Adair County School Board will consider the following bids in the morning at the Adair County School Board Special Called Meeting at 8:30amCT, Monday, June 30, 2014, at the Adair County Board Conference Room, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.

Superintendent Alan Reed said Friday that the bids are being vetted by Gabe Jones, of Sherman-Carter-Barnhart, architects, to find the lowest and best bid. Reed said that a lot of factors go into the choice, "We're going to exercise all due diligence in making the decision, he said.




Bids for Construction of Satellite Classroom + Canopies
Bids for construction of the new satellite Lake Cumberland Technology Center and new bus canopies appear to have acceptable low or near low bids, Reed said. He said that the Construction contract must go to one bidder, even though the two bidders to be considered each have the lowest bid in one or the other projects. The bids are as follows:
  1. Alliance Corporation: $1,129,800. Building; + Canopy, $281,900.=$1,411,500.
  2. Scott, Murphy, Daniel: $1,124,392. Building + Canopy, $369,757=$1,494,754

Bids for Demolition of John Adair Intermediate School and Colonel William Casey.
Demolition bids came in a wide range, with the top bid well over twice that of the lowest. Reed said the the bids include site preparation for the Adair County Band Practice fields which will be located on the site of the John Adair and Colonel Casey.

The demolition bids are as follows
  1. South End Service - $235, 000.00
  2. Brockman Construction - $239,700.00,
  3. AB, Inc. - $249,157.00
  4. Combs Trucking - $249,888.00
  5. AFM - $262,347.00
  6. Evans - $429,900.00
  7. Van Hook Enterprises, $495,000.00
  8. Dre & Associates - $534,600.00
  9. Renascent - $562,700.009
