Murder of Attorney Mark Stanziano: business neighbor remembers

Story now on ABCNews.com with interview with Attorney Jeff Hoover; Business Neighbor Murrell Burton remembers Judge Weddle was impressed with Stanziano's legal skills.
Next earlier story: Murder of Attorney Mark D. Stanziano/Somerset, KY PD report news release from Larry Smith, FM 92.7 the WAVE from Somerset Police Department

The story of the murder of Attorney Mark D. Stanziano is now on ABC Defense Attorney Fatally shot in Kentucky. It includes an interview with Attorney Jeff Hoover, Jamestown, KY, who is also Kentucky House Minority Leader and Board Attorney for the Adair County, KY, School System

Stanziano and his wife and law partner, Bethany Catron Stanziano, maintained an office in Columbia, at 414 Public Square which still carried the firm's previous name, "Stanziano & Catron." Coincidentally, the office is the same as that Attorney Jeff Hoover occupied earlier.

Murrell Burton, whose real estate office is next door, expressed deep sorrow for the loss. "He was a brilliant attorney," he said, and said he remembered the couple as really nice people.

He said that Stanziano was considered to be one of the top criminal defense attorneys in Kentucky, and remembered that his close friend, the late Judge Jimmy Weddle, had high regard for Mark Stanziano's legal skills. "This is terrible," he said, "a real loss."

Murrell Burton remembers business neighbor

Murrell Burton,
whose Burton Real Estate, office is next door to the office of Stanziano & Stanziano - the sign says Stanziano & Catron, it had been updated in Columbia as it had been in Somerset - expressed deep sorrow for the loss. "He was a brilliant attorney," he said, and said he remembered the couple as really nice people. Burton said that the murdered Mark Stanziano did come to the Columbia office occasionally, but not so much as Bethany Catron Stanziano, who handled many criminal defense cases in Adair and Cumberland and other areas more distant from the husband and wife law partnership's Somerset office.
