Daphne Allen, 77, Casey County, KY (1936-2014)

She was a homemaker, retired from Oshkosh, and a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was a Casey County native and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Lester & Amanda Bell Miller Hamm and the widow of Elvern Allen, Sr. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.

Daphne Allen passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at her home in Casey County, KY.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Bro. Ed Parton officiating. Ms. Daphne will be laid to rest in Whited Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, and Thursday at the church from 11amCT/12pmET, until funeral service.



Pallbearers are Matt Moore, Shannon Sharp, Karen Grider, Lori Johnson and Bridget Allen. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren.

She was born Wednesday, October 21, 1936 in Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Lester and Amanda Bell Miller Hamm. She died Tuesday,m June 24, 2014, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 77 years, eight months,and three days.

She was a homemaker, retired from Oshkosh, and a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Daphne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elvern Allen, Sr. who died April 22, 1992, a son, Sonny Allen; six brothers, Vaughn, Raymond, Kenneth, Junior, Lee, and Howard Hamm; and two sisters, Maxine Hamm and Delores Hamm Clements.

Survivors include:
  • A son: Donnie (and Janet) Allen of Liberty, KY

  • A daughter: Sheila (and Dean) Ford of Liberty, KY

  • A daughter-in-law: Tommye Allen of Liberty, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Seven great-grandchildren

  • And two brothers: Herlin Hamm of Moreland, KY; and Harold Hamm of Liberty, KY
Funeral arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
