Click on headline for complete story From Larry Smith, FM 99.9, The Big Dawg Radio GREENSBURG, KY - Green County Sheriff Robby Beard advises the Big Dawg that an imposter is making telephone calls in the name of county officials using threats of prosecution to intimidate Green County residents into sending money. Numerous residents have reported someone claiming to be Deputy Adam Rainwater is calling, saying that they have mist a jury duty summons and a warrant for their arrest is being issued. They are then told they may take care of the matter by appearing in court before Judge Misty Edwards or go to a local business and buy a Money Pack Reload Cart for $495, which is the amount of the fine. After obtaining the card, the victims are to call Deputy Rainwater at a 207-area code number to provide the card number. The phone number, while similar to Green County's 270-area code, is actually in Main. Also, Judge Executive Edwards title is as chief executive of the county and the office has had no judicial powers since the late 1970s. Green County Sheriff Robby Beard asks anyone who receives similar calls to report them to his office at 270-932-5641. from Larry Smith, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications This story was posted on 2014-06-19 15:36:24
