Father's Day Memory: Blessed to have wonderful parents Memories on Father's Day of F.A. & Ethel Mitchum Harvey: On their special days, both Mother's Day and Father's Day, most of us remember good things about our parents. Elaine Harvey Bennett took her memories one extra step when she wrote a bit about each of them. She is the daughter of Finis Albert and Ethel Lee Mitchum Harvey of Adair County. Some of her memories of each of them follow. Click on headline for complete memories and photo(s) By Elaine Harvey Bennett Finis Albert Harvey was also known as Poney Albert and F.A. Harvey. I just knew him as Dad! He was a great story teller he made every story come alive as he told it! We had plenty of time for stories at night cause we didn't have a tv or video games! The winter time was awesome. We spent most of our nights in the basement around a pot bellied stove with a bowl of popcorn and Dad would read the Bible a while and then the Grit newspaper! He always had to share, he loved to read to people. I was blessed to have wonderful parents and a wonderful home. Now days as I look around I know just how good I had it! Thanks Mom and Dad for a wonderful life!!!! Ethel Mitchum Harvey Had the best Mom in the whole wide world! Now I am sure all of you feel the same about your Mom and you should! There is nothing like a good Godly Mom, one who will teach you right from wrong, one who loves you enough to apply a good spanking when needed, one who teaches you to respect your elders and the property of others, one who sets up and sews a garment that you want for something special at school the next day, one who puts a hot healthy meal on the table three times a day, one who loves you unconditionally, one whose smile lights up the room! So hats off this Mothers Day to my Mom, Ethel Lee Mitchum Harvey, the best Mom in the whole world!! - Elaine Bennett This story was posted on 2014-06-15 10:40:53
