Inez Burton Bernard Roden, Adair County, KY (1922-2014)

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a former factory worker, worked as a Dispatcher for the City of Columbia for many years and operated the old Adair Drive-In Theatre with her late husband Ott Roden. She was a native of Adair County and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was a member of a large highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Sam Loren & Gracie Smith Burton. She leaves 18 direct living descendants spanning 4 generations. She was a very special Adair Countian.

Inez Bernard Roden, 92, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 12:25pmCT, at her home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Troy Long officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Chapel Cemetery, next to Beulah Chapel Church, 4262 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Friday, June 13, 2014.

She was born April 21, 1922, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Sam Loren & Gracie Smith Burton. She died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 92 years, 1 month, and 19 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband; Olis Bernard; her second husband; Ott Roden; a daughter; Joann Darnell; two grandchildren, Michael Green & Joseph Bernard; and the following siblings: Clyde, Willie Curtis, Clinton & Beatrice Burton.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a former factory worker, worked as a Dispatcher for the City of Columbia for many years and operated the old Adair Drive-In Theatre with her late husband Ott Roden.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters: Alice (Everett) Wheeler, Patty (Allen) Green all of Columbia, KY

  • One son: Ralph (Betty) Bernard of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Nellie Garrett of Columbia, KY

  • Son-in-law: Jobe Darnell of Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Patti Koller of Owensboro, Ed Darnell of Florence, Todd Green & Tim Wheeler both of Columbia, Elizabeth Bernard of Bowling Green

  • Seven great-grandchildren

  • Three great-great grandchildren
