Josh Brockman, Information Officer Columbia Police Department, Chief Jason Cross Columbia Police Department responded on Saturday, May 24, 2014, just after 3amCT, to an injury accident at the interchange of the LBN Parkway and Burkesville Rd. Upon arrival of CPD officers and Adair County Deputy's it was found that a 41 ft recreational vehicle had struck a loaded tractor and trailer. The driver of the RV was pinned in the vehicle and officer's and deputies were unable to free him, necessitating a quick response from Columbia-Adair County Fire Department who worked to free him from the wreckage while Adair EMS began treatment while the patient was still entrapped. The driver was taken from the scene by Air ambulance to the University of Louisville. The driver of the semi was uninjured and refused medical attention. The accident occurred when 53 year old Earl Partin was operating an 2013 Freightliner pulling a 49 ft Great Dane trailer and pulled into the path of 50 year old Terry Vaughn. who was operating a 2004 Windsor Monoco R.V. northbound on Burkesville Road. The collision kept the roadway shut down for around 3.5 hours. The accident was investigated by the Columbia Police Department who was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff Department, Columbia -Adair Fire Department, Adair EMS, Adair Search and Rescue, KY State Police/ CVE Division, and Constable Jason Rector.
