Report from NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium, 18999 Oak Road W, Gulf Shores, AL Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom GULF SHORES, AL - Carmetrick Ross and Ben Graham each earned All-America honors Friday afternoon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Ross took second in the men’s long jump while Graham finished seventh in the men’s 5,000 meter race walk to earn the honor. Ross leapt a distance of 7.31 meters on his second-to-last attempt in the finals to secure second place and eight points for Lindsey Wilson. He was one of nine competitors to qualify for the final heat after reaching a distance of 7.19 meters in the preliminaries. Wayland Baptist’s Wayne Northover won the event with a distance of 7.42 meters. Graham finished in seventh place in the race walk after completing the event in a time of 29:38.96 to score two points for the Lindsey Wilson men’s team. Missouri Baptist’s Nick Christie won the event with a time of 21:22.72. On the women’s side, Reini Brickson placed ninth in the 5,000 meter race walk with a time of 28:38.88. She finished just shy of earning All-America honors finishing less than eight seconds behind the eighth-place finisher. Kimberley Stevens also finished just shy of All-America honors after hitting a distance of 11.54 meters in the triple jump to place 10th. She fell .05 meters short of reaching the top eight. Chanel Roberts finished in 21st place in the shot put event after reaching a distance of 12.90 meters on her third and final throw. She committed a foul in her two previous throws in the event.
