Purple Wednesday: A custom is born It started when Jessie Sanchez' father gave him an old pair of purple shorts when Jessie was in the 6th grade. It's a heartwarming story. Click on headline for story and Shamarie photo(s) By Shamarie Claiborne Jessie Sanchez, a senior at Adair County High School, has wore Purple every Wednesday since he was in the 6th grade. Jessie says it started when his dad gave him an old pair of purple shorts. He wore them on Wednesday of that week, then a few weeks later, Jessie got to thinking and he had wore them every Wednesday. So it became his thing - every Wednesday he wore purple and his ever since. So in honor of Jessie and his Purple Wednesday the staff and some students wore purple yesterday. Jessie told me he was honored by the jester. Jessie will be attending Lindsey Wilson College and majoring in Business Administration. And just for the record: Purple Wednesday's will continue.
